How I Have Adapted To The Andela Bootcamp Challenges So Far
My life has been filled with different challenges: from things I can control to things beyond my control. In all situations of life I have learnt to ignore, solve the problem myself or seek for support. As an introvert, I believed in speaking to myself more and addressing issues based on what I think.
My experience at the boot camp has been life transforming and it has also convinced me more that this is truly what I want for myself. It has become very easy for me to seek help from those who know more, my friends and also, I have had to do in-depth study to ensure I can compete and come out a success. This experience has also shown me that when you want something you go out of your shell to get it.
I feel like a young man with potentials worth over 100 billion US Dollars, choosing to become a programmer is the beginning of unfolding these potentials. However, the way I have addressed my challenges at the bootcamp has helped me to reinforce confidence in my ambition. I will like to share some of the keys that have helped me so far, I also believe that this advice is applicable to other areas or sectors of life. Some of my key strategies are listed below:
- Do not look down on anyone: I have had to ask colleagues and facilitators for advise during the short time I have been here and the truth is that they all have something reasonable to say. I have had to catch up with the fast learning pace during the bootcamp and one way I have been able to do that is to realize that life is a classroom. I need to learn from everyone I meet.
- Do not look down on yourself: Everyday, I renew confidence in my ability. Even when I don’t have knowledge about a particular issue at the present moment, I strongly believe that with dedication, discipline and detailed study, I can acquire the skills and knowledge.
- Move out of your shell: One of the biggest lessons I have acquired during my bootcamp experience is to note that the ability to evolve and adapt is key to achieving your goals in life. As an introvert I have had to ignore my personality and go out to meet people, ask questions and exchange knowledge with them
I strongly believe that this is one of the best ways ever to launch my career into the world of coding so as to develop real solutions driven by technology. I have embarked on this path with my sight set at the top and God so help me to achieve it.
